We design and build dishwashers specifically to suit Australian conditions, in our modern manufacturing facility in Smithfield, NSW. Distribution and after sales service are looked after through the company’s state offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Established in 1932

The story of Eswood is one of innovation and reliability. The company was founded in 1932 by Syd Wood, but it’s possible he would have turned to other pursuits if it had not been for his wife, who, with a thoroughly modern attitude for such conservative times, asked, “Why do I have to wash up? Can’t you produce something that will enable me to have the dishes done?”. 

So, the inventive Syd produced a simple dishwasher and, with the help of his brother Ed, formed the company Eswood.  They then began production in a section of a factory in Chapel Road, Bankstown.

A lot has changed since Syd made the first Eswood dishwasher. But some things remain the same.

From 1932 to the outbreak of World War II, the business grew steadily and during the war years, heavy demands were made on the company by the Defence Department for the supply of dishwashing equipment. Army, Navy and Air Force establishments, troop ships and hospital ships were equipped with Eswood dishwashers. A number were supplied to the American forces too.

Since then, the designs, materials and capabilities of the various Eswood machines have changed, but there remains a commitment to providing quality products and comprehensive service.
